EWS64 and GigaSampler, MMTASK crashing on startup

since i installed GigaSampler i'm getting a error on startup, MMTASK is crashing every time.
i installed cubase and gigasampler on a clean windoze again , and had the same problem + GigaSampler isnt making any sounds.
any idea how to solve it ?

Same problem here... I assyme you have W98 installed.. ok, try this:

Go to device list (right click on "my computer" & properties), find EWS CODEC. Inside codec there's extra page (don't remember it's name, next to right from page where you set your codecs duplex mode), what causes this crash. In that page at bottom, there marked selection "enable this *blah blah blah* (don't it's name too...), just unmark this and reboot.

Worked with me, I send better information when I get back home.

Correction to previous post:

At device manager, open Terratec EWS64 XL Codec. Extra page is named "Wavestream" open it, and unmark "Synthesizer Enabled". That should solve problem... it solved my error.

i could fix the error, but....i can't hear any sound out of gigasampler (i choosed codec play as play device, was the only one i could choose), if i choose codec play for winamp, i cant hear anything too, so i
think the codec is dasabled.
was gigasmpler working for you ?

This may sound a bit "rude", but here's guide how to do it:

Go back to device manager-> EWS Codec-> Wavestream. Now MARK "Synthesizer Enabled" box. DO NOT BOOT!!! Now open WinAmp, select output as EWS Codec and try to play song.

Now here's the funnies part, this SHOULD freeze your computer for good, only solution is to turn off computer and turn it back on (Yeah, this IS rude, but it works). Now, when W98 is finally up, Wavestreams Synth is NOT enabled, but EWS Codec works OK, WinAmp & Gigasampler gives sound ok.
